CFHC L2s kicked off the season with an impressive home win over University of Warwick 4s.
A fellow development team.
Whilst the oppo arrived with 9 players and it being suggested we give them a player, experience from previous seasons made me fear, even with 9 we could have damage inflicted upon us...
So we started the game with 11 v 9.
My fears were unfounded however, as a very early goal put us ahead.
And we continued to keep them pinned into their half for the majority of the first half.
Some great play however from our steely defensive combo of Colonel Caz and Tank Commander Tam (Sorry Tam, only thing i could think of that starts with T) kept the CHFC GK with little to do....
Fullback Kristie proving that fitness is key as she sprinted up and down the pitch defending or surging forward!
By the end of the first half we went in 4.0 up.
No idea who scored when......
I was too far away and basking in our success.
And we took the decision for the oppo to steal away Tamsin and Clare P, 2 of the teams experienced players...
A bold move, one that I wasnt sure how it would work out?!?!
But work out it did!
If anything we played better against 11.
A brilliant goal from a short corner saw Chloe get on the board, our shorts went well today.
Maysie taking up the role of injecting, which she made a great job of, so pleased to see her growing in confidence, enough to walk over and deliver some fab balls.
Our midfield dominated in attack, led by Lance Corporal Laura... Who bagged herself a hat-trick.
She could have had so many more today, but her selfless play and the desire to get others on the scoresheet was evident, proving what a fantastic asset she is to the club and a great person.
But hats off to the youngsters...
They stepped it up 2nd half, Lolo, the tenacious terrier, unrelenting in her hunt of the ball was rewarded with 2 goals.
As was Ayesha who was hard working and confident in the D and she bagged a brace too.
Weird to think now of Erin not being classed as a youngster, but she too, maturing every week in her game play.
Big mentions to those who worked equally as hard in MF, Jo BM, Nish and Ruby, who won so much and delivered the ball up front.
Big mentions to Clare P and Tam for helping out the oppo, Clare.. so glad you didnt get that shot away... And Tam enjoying her battles with Laura...
A lovely 9.0 victory to start the season.
We are on the road next week.
