For a change the sun shone on the Burton Walks pitch.
Despite two players dropping out and frantic last minute changes we even went out with a couple of subs today!
First half saw Leicester city put a lot of pressure on the home team in green.
We had lots of chances but Leicester were hitting us on the break and had a run of several short corners.
Two found the back of the net but were swiftly ruled out for illegal shots.
An epic goalkeeping display by the home GK who was bouyed by her midweek Goalkeeper training session (being hammered with shots by the M1s) kept us in it.
Eventually though Leicester City found the lead with a scrappy goal.
A positive team talk at half time and we went out with the bit between our teeth...
It's didn't take long before a sweet cross from Laura found Leni in an epic position to sweep the ball into the goal. A musical celebration from the boisterous support crew heralded her first senior goal, scored with such composure!
The second half was all Charnwood.
Chances came and went.
Everyone in the Charnwood team played epic hockey.
Eventually we went on the attack again and Elsie battled with the opposition GK to put it over her on the floor and we heard the rattle of the backboard.
Leicester now pressed forward more, but some phenomenal defending from the backline who were steadfast for the game and also the MF really getting back to support, kept them out
Another chance arose for the home team, another junior... 1 on 1... And yes gave us a 3.1 lead as Lolo scored an important goal.
What seemed like AN ETERNITY eventually passed as both teams battled relentlessly...
I could not pick out any player for standout performances today...
Everyone was brilliant.
Forwards took their chances today
Midfield were up and down all game.
Defence was steadfast.
GK was actually happy today!!
Supporters were epic beyond words.
