After weeks of organising..
Clubs adding teams...Clubs dropping teams...
The day finally arrived for the Charnwood Forest HC tournament.
The first one organised by Junior Co-ordinator Nic Murdoch and her assistant Jo Wilson.
Finally the schedule was ready to go...
Coaches arrived, pitches set up, the sweet stall was stocked and the Barista van parked, coffee brewing...
First up were the U8s and the 2 super Squirrel teams!
They really did get the tournament off to a magnificent start!
Running around left and right, up and down, with the hugest smiles on their faces!
Really makes you appreciate their enthusiasm.
We won some, we lost some, parents drank coffee, cheered and clapped. The junior umpires did a great job of managing these games. Some future umpires for the club I'm sure!!
I'm pretty sure that Club Chairman Greg Godwin was blown away by how brilliant our juniors are.
And the amazing job that the coaching team do.
Mary and Kev ensured that fun and teamwork were the driving force for everyone ! πΏ
A super quick change round of pitches, something that was done in record time saw the U10s take their turn on the main stage!
A larger pitch was a jump up for some if the teams but they adapted in true CFHC style.
Everytime I saw the U10s come off the pitch, I heard tales of goals, and teamwork.
I heard the kids say how they passed the ball around and looked so pleased and excited about it. As they move to U10s they have to start to think about their positions a little more, and you could really see it starting to take shape!
Definitely excited to see how these guys continue their hockey journey! πΏ
Our final age group were the big dogs of the junior section.. The U12s!
2 great teams.
Emphasis on using the pitch, passing, link up play, driving forward and killer crosses.
Preparing them for seniors.
And I truly know, without a doubt some of these players will be smashing it when they arrive on the senior scene.
Absolutely sublime hockey at times..
Winning the majority of their games for both teams.
Absolutely phenomenal hockey played by every single one of them...
As the day ended we can look back and know that we delivered a first class tournament.
Feedback came in that it was 'brilliant', 'well organised' 'the best tournament I've been to'
Indeed the head of Leicestershire and Rutland Hockey Michael Cordon likened our orange coated and orange cap army of coaches and young helpers to having the skills of the Dutch teams!
We could not have done it without;
Our BRILLIANT coaches....
Our UNBELIEVABLE young helpers...
Our UNSUNG special parent helpers ...Who at every turn asked.. what can i do to help?
The BEST parents.... Who get these kids to training, even on those wet cold nights...
And of course.. The stars of the show.. OUR PLAYERS!!
You were amazing πΏπππ
