We hoped that we'd be lucky this time. Sadly, we were not.
At 4 am on Tuesday morning, the freezing flood waters breached the top room of the clubhouse, with the changing rooms already having been submerged for hours at this point. At their highest point, the flood waters inside the clubhouse reached just 1 inch short of the devastating flood this time last year. Prior to 2024, our clubhouse had not been flooded in over 50 years. Now, it's twice in 12 months.
Once again, we will need all hands on deck to get it up and running again. Yesterday, volunteers managed to remove most of the standing water from inside the clubhouse, but it remains very soggy and dirty, with potential untold internal damage yet to be fully explored.
So members, if anyone has any time that you can spare this week and weekend to help out at the club, it would be greatly appreciated.
Volunteers will be there today (9th) until approximately 3pm.
